Mt. Ephraim Police Sgt. Brian Conte Honored by Commissioners

Mount Ephraim Police Sergeant Brian Conte was presented with a Certificate of Excellence by Commissioner Andrew Gilmore \"AlwaysJune 3.

Conte was honored at the start of last week’s Board of Commissioners meeting for his performance after an armed robbery of the PNC Bank on Black Horse Pike.

Sgt. Conte stood before the audience as Gilmore read a proclamation outlining the events that took place after the robbery.

Conte\’s brave and hard work resulted in the arrest of the suspect without incident, and the money was returned to the bank.

Bellmawr Fire Department Offers Free Smoke Detectors to Residents

The Bellmawr Fire Department can provide you with FREE smoke detectors and install \"Freedetector\" them, if necessary, at no cost to you through our community smoke detector and battery program.

Although 90 percent of American homes have smoke detectors many do not work due to neglect. This means that many homes and families that live in them are unnecessarily at risk. A properly maintained smoke detector can provide a warning during the early stages of a fire, giving the occupants time to escape unharmed.

Smoke detectors are only effective if hey are installed in the proper locations and maintained regularly. If you have any questions about the smoke detector program or need assistance inspecting your detectors, feel free to contact the Borough Hall at 933-1313 and leave your contact information and someone from the Fire Department will be in touch with you.

Frank J. Wasko, of Gloucester City, WW II Army Veteran, who loved Fishing, Crabbing, Tinkering on Cars…Services Saturday

\"6a00d8341bf7d953ef0115724332f3970b-120wi\" On June 23, 2010, of Gloucester City, NJ, age 83 years. Beloved husband for 55 years of Lillian (nee Surowiec). Loving father of Frank, Jr. (Patti), Lynn Ba’albaki, Carol Feather (Gary Rust), Raymond Wasko (Dori) and the late Ronald Wasko (twin brother of Raymond). He was the cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and dear brother of John Wasko, Rose Nichols and Pauline Stires and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Willie.

Frank had a great love of life. He had a great sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and tinkering on cars and was known as somewhat of an inventor. Frank was also a proud Army veteran, serving in the Asian Pacific Theatre of Operations.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the ETHERINGTON-CRERAN FUNERAL HOME 700 Powell St., Gloucester City. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Inurnment in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr NJ to be held at the convenience of the family. Body found in Del. River may be missing mother

Maribel Gonzalez, 44, of the Richmond Hill section of Queens in New York City, fell into the water about 4:30 p.m. after trying to get from a disabled boat onto an inflatable raft. The body was recovered about 10:30 this morning by West Deptford\’s Verga Fire Department. Although the Coast Guard called off its search Monday morning, New Jersey State Police and local authorities continued to search the river, especially the area where the accident happened – near No Name Island, off the Gloucester County town of National Park,
