A new Washington Post poll shows a whopping 74 percent of Americans believe photo identification should be required to cast a ballot in U.S. elections.

A controversy over voter ID laws is a prominent backdrop to this year’s election, with courtroom showdowns in Pennsylvania, Texas and elsewhere over voting rights and otherwise mundane election procedures.

Overall, there is high, strong and cross-party support for such laws, even though a slim majority of Americans say they have heard \”not much\” or \”nothing\” about the issue. Support dips among those who say they have heard more about new photo identification requirements but remains the majority position.

Matters not to me what \”party\”

These figures tell a compelling story and should challenge everyone to think beyond partisan politics and finger pointing and get a grasp of reality before it is too late

Veterans Outreach Program
The Freeholder Board’s Office of Veterans Affairs is going on the road to provide greater access to services. Veterans and their families are invited to American Legion Post 372, 1532 Martin Avenue in Cherry Hill on Wednesday, August 29 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Representatives from federal, state and county government will join numerous local Veterans services organizations to assist members of the Armed Forces. Hotdogs and soda will be served.

Foundations (http://www.esdf.org/ ) has repeated their participation in the national equipment grants program. New Jersey has been awarded $6,000 to provide grants to new National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) schools for the purchase of archery equipment. The Division provides training, as well as training materials, free of charge to schools participating in the program. 

New NASP schools are eligible for up to $1000 towards the purchase of a complete archery equipment kit (providing up to 33% financial support towards the total purchase price of $3000). The funds must be allocated by December 31, 2012 and equipment ordered by January 31, 2013. Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

(Sewell, NJ) – A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new University Center on the campus Gloucester County College was held today.
