Philadelphia, PA – After nearly four decades of unwavering dedication to the fight against HIV, Action Wellness has announced that the AIDS Walk Philly will officially be retired. Since its founding in 1987, the walk has united tens of thousands of participants, advocates and supporters, raising millions of dollars to fund vital HIV prevention, treatment and support services across the Greater Philadelphia region. The decision to sunset the event follows the closure of the AIDS Fund in 2024 and comes after careful consideration of rising costs, limited resources and the shifting landscape of HIV awareness and funding. To honor the legacy of the AIDS Walk Philly and AIDS Fund, Action Wellness will team up with the William Way LGBT Community Center (1315 Spruce Street) for a AIDS Walk Philly Retrospective on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. The event will include an assortment of curated items on display and guided tours, light refreshments and a guest book for attendees to sign. The event is open to all, especially those that have participated in the walk over the years. Past participants are encouraged to wear their past AIDS Walk Philly gear or red to the event. A donation of $25 to attend is suggested, along with advance RSVP actionwellness DOT org/special-events/
Action Wellness recognizes that this event has brought together thousands of participants, advocates, and supporters each year, fostering a sense of community and raising vital funds for prevention, treatment and support services for those with HIV. The decision to retire the event was a difficult one but it was made in response to the changing landscape of HIV awareness and funding.
“We are incredibly proud to have been part of the impact that AIDS Walk Philly has had over the years in raising awareness and supporting individuals living with HIV,” said Action Wellness Executive Director Mary Evelyn Torres. “The commitment from participants, sponsors, and volunteers has been nothing short of inspiring. While we are sad to see this tradition come to a close, we look forward to continuing the work and honor the spirit of the Walk as we serve the community in other ways.”
“We must all be thankful for the incredible advances in HIV prevention, care, and treatment that have brought us to the point,” said former AIDS Fund Director Robb Reichard. “As we continue to strive towards the ultimate goal of getting to zero, I hope that the community will find other ways to support people living with HIV disease and honor the memory of those we’ve lost to the epidemic.”
Camilla Araujo was among the high-profile names spotted outside the Vetements runway show in Paris, where the fashion house staged one of the most closely watched events of Fashion Week.
The model and social media personality arrived in a striking slate-toned structured gown with dramatic shoulders and a floor-length hem. Styled with oversized black sunglasses and silver statement earrings, Araujo’s look drew attention from photographers and fans gathered outside despite the rainy weather.Still, it was Heidi Klum who dominated headlines with an ensemble that instantly went viral.
The 52-year-old model, accompanied by her daughter Leni, first posed for photos in an oversized overcoat and dark glasses.
Moments later, she revealed a floor-length gown of sheer gray lace with built-in gloves, leaving little to the imagination. Beneath the lace, Klum wore only a nude-toned thong.
The look, which debuted as part of Vetements’ Spring/Summer 2025 collection, shocked even seasoned Fashion Week attendees.
Klum also revealed metallic grills when she parted her lips on the carpet, further adding to the buzz.
“She looked fearless,” Araujo said. “Heidi’s been in this business for decades and still knows how to create a viral moment. I think that’s inspiring. Fashion should make people talk.”
The German supermodel previously walked in the same Vetements collection in a more covered-up look, pairing leather pants with a graphic T-shirt and long coat. But the lace gown worn Thursday may stand as one of her most daring public outfits to date.
For Araujo, the experience was about more than celebrity spectacle. “I come here for the art,” she said. “What Vetements does is unexpected. It’s not safe, and that’s the point. You see the clothes, but you also feel the culture shift happening in front of you.”

Washington, DC –Congressman Van Drew sent a letter to Mayor Parker of the city of Philadelphia demanding accountability for the city’s decision to raise the flag of the People’s Republic of China during an official ceremony on September 30th.
“The CCP is not a government to be celebrated,” said Congressman Van Drew. “It is a regime of repression and intimidation that censors its people, steals American jobs, and undermines our national security. By raising their flag in an official city ceremony, Philadelphia gave recognition to an adversary that works every day against the interests of the United States. It is a direct insult to the values that define our country. Mayor Parker owes the people a full explanation of why this ceremony was allowed to take place and the steps she is taking to ensure it does not happen again.”
The Philadelphia Police are investigating a homicide in the city’s 24th District. Officers responded to the 3000 block of Kensington Avenue at approximately 7:43 p.m. for a report of a shooting. An adult male victim was transported by police to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:01 p.m. The scene was secured, and the Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. No arrests have been made, and a motive has not been determined.
