The Shutdown Has Ended. Here’s What Comes Next

After 43 days, the Republican shutdown may be over, but this fight is far from finished. Republicans refused to come to the table to lower healthcare costs for American families, and that choice will have real consequences across the country. But rest assured, I will keep fighting to bring your costs down and protect the care you rely on

While Republicans took a vacation, I stayed in Washington fighting to reopen the government and protect affordable healthcare for working people.

We passed the legislation to end the Schumer Shutdown out of the Senate on Monday night, and the House voted for its passage on Wednesday so President Trump could sign it into law. Ending the longest shutdown in American history.

The Quiet Design Trend Transforming Australian Homes: Premium Cabinet Doors

In Australian kitchens and bathrooms, a subtle shift is underway. Homeowners are moving past flat-pack sameness and returning to a focus on craftsmanship, durability and personalised design. And at the centre of this movement? Cabinet doors.

While they may seem like a small detail, cabinet doors account for more visual space than nearly any other surface in a kitchen. In 2025, renovators and builders are treating them as a hero feature rather than an afterthought. Here’s why cabinet doors have become one of the most impactful upgrades in modern home design.

1. The Rise of Customisation and Bespoke Joinery

Australian homeowners are embracing the idea that cabinetry should match the character of the home—not the other way around. Instead of choosing from limited, mass-produced options, renovators are turning to custom-made doors that offer:

  • Exact sizing for existing cabinets
  • Unique profiles such as shaker, V-groove, bevelled or ultra-minimalist
  • Premium materials like MDF, solid timber, or metal

Custom cabinet doors allow renovators to refresh an entire kitchen without ripping out the internal carcasses—a cost-savvy upgrade with massive aesthetic payoff.
