Camden, NJ – Detectives are investigating a shooting that killed a man in Camden on Thursday night, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.
On Thursday, June 25, 2026, at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department responded to the 300 block of Morse Street in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located a gunshot victim — identified as 50-year-old Cornelius Smith of Camden — lying in the street. The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 10:46 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time. A Camden man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in the city earlier this month, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez. Eric Irizarry, 45, is charged with 1st -degree Murder in the death of 24-year-old Luis J. Bonet of Camden. He is also charged with 2nd -degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and 2nd -degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
June 20 at 10 a.m. the Board of Commissioners will join residents, volunteers, and partners at Cathedral Kitchen’s 50th Anniversary Community Block Party, celebrating five decades of service to the Camden community. The event honors Cathedral Kitchen’s longstanding mission of providing dignity, compassion, and hope to neighbors in need.
“For 50 years, Cathedral Kitchen has been a cornerstone of support in Camden, offering meals, support, and pathways to opportunity,” said Commissioner Jennifer Cooley Fleisher. “I encourage our community members to join us in celebrating this incredible milestone.”
The celebration will include free food prepared by Cathedral Kitchen’s culinary team and Culinary Arts Training Program alumni, along with family-friendly activities such as games, face painting, giveaways, and a performance by Mr. Hollywood DJ, the in-arena host for the Philadelphia Flyers. Virtua Health will offer onsite services, including Pediatric Mobile Services and free glucose and blood pressure screenings, and the Center for Aquatic Sciences’ CAUSE Teen Program will also host an interactive marine activity.

Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in Camden that led to a multi-vehicle crash in Pennsauken on Tuesday night, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez. On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at approximately 7:02 p.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department responded to the 3300 block of Westfield Avenue in Camden in reference to a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple shell casings and an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck by gunfire. At approximately 7:06 p.m., officers from the Pennsauken Police Department responded to a crash involving five motor vehicles at Drexel Avenue and Route 130 in Pennsauken. Upon arrival, officers observed that one of the vehicles had been struck by gunfire. The driver – later identified as 36-year-old Izaiah Minzy of Westville – was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound. Minzy was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:11 p.m. Six other individuals occupying vehicles involved in the crash sustained minor injuries. This investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time. On May 21, 2026, NJ Attorney General Jennifer Davenport and the Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ) announced today that a Camden man has been charged with human trafficking, promoting prostitution, and acts of violence against two women whom he allegedly forced to commit commercial sex acts.
Keith B. Woodson, 40, of Camden, is charged by complaint with multiple counts of first-degree human trafficking, promoting prostitution, and aggravated assault.
