Brooklawn Council Honors Ray Staley For Community Service

Brooklawn Council last week approved a proclamation honoring former Councilman Ray Staley for his years of dedicated service to the community.

After serving on Council for six years, Staley decided not to seek re-election last year. He attended his last official meeting in December.

Mayor John Soubasis presented Staley with a plaque memorializing the proclamation.

Staley thanked the governing body for their recognition, adding that he will probably still be on hand to help out.

Council also approved a proclamation honoring former Camden County Freeholder Tom Gurick, who also stepped down from his position at the end of his term last year. Gurick was unavailable to receive his plaque.

In other business, a bingo and raffle license was approved for the American Legion.

Scott Smith of Kei Associates reported on several ongoing Borough projects, while Councilwoman Theresa Branella noted that there was a good community turnout for the Borough’s \”Biggest Loser\” program.

Council will meet again at :30 p.m.on Tuesday, February 20 in the Borough Hall,Haakon Road.
