Arms carry Profs to sweep
Starting pitchers Gary Winkler and Brian McLaughlin each went eight innings and allowed just one earned run as the Rowan University baseball team swept Rutgers-Newark in a doubleheader by scores of 5-2 and 12-1 Saturday in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.
The Profs improved to 16-14 overall, 6-7 in the NJAC, and are still in the fight for one of the six berths in the conference tournament with a week to play. The Scarlet Raiders fell to 11-21, 7-7.

Profs defeat Rutgers-Newark
Rowan University captured both ends of an NJAC doubleheader against Rutgers-Newark by scores of 6-3 and 4-1.
Amanda Riegel scattered six hits and fanned eight to win Game 1, while Kim Ryan and Heidi Smith (double, triple) each drove in a pair of runs.
Washington Township High School graduate Kristin Wallace was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in the second game. Danielle Lawlor went the distance for her 10th win of the season.
Raptors split two with WPU
William Paterson took Game 1 of an NJAC doubleheader with Rutgers-Camden, 4-2, while the Scarlet Raptors rallied to take the nightcap, 5-2.
The Pioneers came back from a 2-0 deficit in the opener, scoring three times in the fourth. Ana Abourashed\’s two-run pinch-hit single gave them the lead for good. Deptford resident Megan Farrell took the loss, with only one of the four runs earned thanks to a pair of errors.
