William E. Osterman Jr.Died July 7, 2008. At age 57. Bill¹s Maryland roots made him the northern embodiment of the South. He loved Maryland Blue Claw Crabs, hosting barbecues for family and friends, the Chesapeake Bay, and spending time in Fortescue at the Delaware Bay with Grendel, his Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Bill was a highly decorated police officer of 25 years. He started in Swedesboro as a patrolman and was Chief of Police in Elmer for 20 years. He was an NRA life member and an expert marksmen in police pistol, sporting clays, combat team shooting and hunting. He loved history especially the Civil War and was a proud member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. History was also a more personal endeavor as he was the family historian. Bill¹s love of country was paramount: he was a true patriot.
He is survived by his wife, Betsy Ann (nee Coles); mother, Mary Margaret; brothers: Greg (Jennifer), Jeff (Melanie), and Kurt(Gina). Pre-deceased by his father William Edward Osterman Sr.
Join us to celebrate his life Friday July 18, 2008 4-6:45 pm at DALEY LIFE CELEBRATION STUDIO, 1518 Kings Highway, Swedesboro where there will be a gathering of remembrance at 7pm. Interment private at the convenience of the family.
