\"6a00d8341bf7d953ef0115724332f3970b-120wi\" On March 2, 2010. Age 81. Lifelong resident of Gloucester City. Loving and devoted husband of 56 years to Anna K. (nee Tice). Loving father of Kathleen A. (Elizabeth), Stephen M. (Paula), Joseph J. (Bonnie) and Paul J. (Denise) Farrell. Predeceased by his loving son John J. Farrell. Loving grandfather of Megan, Stephen, Devon, Amanda, Sean, Ryan and Conor. Dear brother of Kathleen Laudisio, Joseph (Gwen) Farrell and the late Thomas Farrell.

Stephen was born and raised in Gloucester City. He graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar School and Gloucester Catholic High School class of 1947. He was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s R.C. Church. Stephen proudly served our Country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked his way through the ranks and retired from the Gloucester City Police Department as Chief after 34 years of service. Stephen worked 15 years as the Director of Security for Holt Cargo Systems in NJ and PA. Stephen was a member of NJ State Chiefs of Police Assoc., the South Jersey and Camden County Chiefs Assoc., P.B.A. Local #40, and Past President of the GCHS Parents and Boosters Club. Stephen was very involved in Gloucester City including his work with St. Mary’s Church, Gloucester Catholic High School and the Gloucester City PAL.

Relatives, friends and fellow Police Officers are invited to attend his viewing on Friday evening from 6 to 9 PM and again Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 AM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth St. (at Brown St.) Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM at Saint Mary’s R.C. Church: 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Interment with U.S. Military Honors New Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Mary’s Church Memorial Fund: 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester

New Jersey Fishermen Must Be Registered

With the annual spawning runs of popular recreational species such as striped bass, shad and river herring just weeks away, the NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is reminding anglers that under a new federal law, most New Jersey saltwater recreational fishermen are now required to register with the National Saltwater Angler Registry before they go fishing. The Saltwater Angler Registry is part of an improved data program to help protect the long-term sustainability of recreational fishing.
