A number of residents from Rose Avenue questioned Bellmawr Mayor and Council during last week’s meeting about a home which caught fire on April 19.

Although cleanup teams have been removing burned out debris since the spring fire, the residents wondered what – if anything – was being done with the home.

ATLANTA – The Women\’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), on behalf of the Wade Coalition, announced the 2010-2011 preseason \”Wade Watch\” list for The State Farm® Wade Trophy Division I Player of the Year. The 25-member list is made up of top NCAA Division I student-athletes who best embody the spirit of Lily Margaret Wade according to the following criteria: game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability.

This year\’s list has 19 institutions and 10 conferences represented. Tennessee has three student-athletes on the list – Angie Bjorklund, Kelley Cain and Shekinna Stricklen. Connecticut (Tiffany Hayes and Maya Moore), Xavier (Amber Harris and Ta’Shia Phillips), Stanford (Nnemkadi Ogwumike and Kayla Pedersen) and Ohio State (Jantel Lavender and Samantha Prahalis) each added two to the list.

The BIG EAST and SEC each have four student-athletes on the list, followed by the ACC (3), Big Ten (3), Big 12 (3), Atlantic-10 (2), Colonial Athletic (2), Pac-10 (2), Sun Belt (1) and West Coast (1).

FLEENOR, Joyce E. Fields Age 55, of Midlothian, VA. She was the daughter of Frank Fields of Washington Twp., and the late Jane Carol Fields. Joyce is survived by her husband, Johnny Jerome, daughter Jessica and son Kyle of Midlothian; two sisters, Susan Barone (Mike) and Anne Rutkowski (Steve) of Washington Twp.; brother-in-law Jayde Fleenor (Debbie) and three sisters-in-law, Jerie Fleenor, Judy Harless (Jimmy) and Glenna Fleiner, all of Bristol, Va., and 10 nieces and nephews.

A native of Gloucester City, N.J., Joyce earned her degree from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pa. She taught for 32 years at Ladysmith Elementary, now Lewis and Clark Elementary in Ruther Glen, Va. Aside from teaching, she loved collecting shells at the beach, gardening and her two pets, Jack and Jill. She is best known for her smile and spunky, upbeat personality.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 6 at the Ashland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 301 S. James St., Ashland, Va. 23005. A memorial service will be held at the Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 7. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joyce\’s memory to Ashland Christian Church or to the Joyce Fleenor Memorial Scholarship Fund at Lewis and Clark Elementary School, 18101 Clark & York Blvd., Ruther Glen, Va. 22546.
