SHREWSBURY/HOLDEN, MA – Edward M. Shindle, 93, a resident of the Shrewsbury Crossings Senior Living Community, died at home on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. His wife of 61 years, Margaret (Gilfillan) Shindle died in 2002, and his grandson, Matthew E. Friel, died in 2004. He is survived by two daughters, Elaine Shindle of Wakefield and Janet Friel of North Falmouth; a son, Edward M. Shindle and his wife Michele (Lindfors) of Holden; 8 beloved grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren – who adored him.
Edward was born in 1918 in Gloucester City, NJ, the only child of Elizabeth Jane (Bastian) and Edward M. Shindle, and graduated from Gloucester City High School where he was captain of the basketball team and a member of the harmonica band.
