Brooklawn held its annual Fire Prevention Night on Saturday, October 27 at the Fire Hall.


Fire Inspector Carl Thomas encouraged everyone to attend as he made the announcement during last week’s Borough Council meeting.


He also told Council that the firehouse had an Open House about fire prevention on Friday, October 19.

Councilman Michael Mevoli reminded everyone that Trick or Treat ho urs are scheduled for 3 to 7 p.m. on Halloween Day October 31.

Hawkins Named Midfielder of the Year For Second Straight Season

 

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Helping the Saint Joseph’s women’s soccer team to its first berth in the Atlantic 10 Championship since 2005, a trio of Hawks garnered conference honors, A-10 officials announced on Wednesday. For the second straight season, junior Mo Hawkins (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) was chosen Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year in a vote of the league’s coaches, and joined senior goalkeeper Christine Neal (Hockessin, Del./Alexis I Du Pont) on the A-10 All-Conference First Team. Additionally, freshman Olivia McEachern (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team.

Coast Guard Rescues 14 \’Bounty\’ Sinking Victims

WASHINGTON, Oct. 30, 2012 – During an Oct. 29 U.S. Coast Guard search-and-rescue operation associated with Hurricane Sandy, 14 people who\’d abandoned the sinking HMS Bounty tall ship were rescued from life rafts in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 90 miles southeast of Hatteras, N.C.
