The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today announced that it has approved Flublok, the first trivalent influenza vaccine made using an insect virus (baculovirus) expression system and recombinant DNA technology. Flublok is approved for the prevention of seasonal influenza in people 18 through 49 years of age.

Loving husband of Jackie (nee Williams) Loving father of Patrick, Jr., Jacqueline LaPento(Chris), Maria, Edward, Ariel, Lisa, Justin, Juliann, Charlene. Cherished grandfather of Nicole, William, Patrick, Joseph, Gianna, Romeo and Valerie. Dear brother of Edward, Charles, Alexander, John, Wayne and the late Ronald. Also survived by many great sister-in-laws. 

 

Patrick was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and will be remembered for his great sense of humor. 

 

Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial visitation on Monday from 5 to 6 PM at First Baptist Church of Gloucester City: 400 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Baptist Memorial Service at 6 PM. Senior League, Big League Softball World Series to Be Played Aug. 4-10

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.

The Executive Committee of the Little League International Board of Directors has approved relocating the Big League Softball World Series tournament to Sussex County, Del.

Currently, the Lower Sussex Little League Complex in Sussex County, Del., is host to the Senior League Softball World Series. Beginning with the 2013 season the Senior League Softball and Big League Softball World Series tournaments will share the facility and be played simultaneously, during the week of Aug. 4-10.

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ-Four of Gloucester Catholic\’s finest seniors were each nominated by local Congressmen to various United States military academies. 

Nominated from New Jersey\’s 1st Congressional District by Rep. Rob Andrews were: Devin McCall, nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point and the United States Merchant Marine Academy; Rory McPeak, who was nominated to the United States Naval Academy; and Nicholas Marks who was nominated for United States Military Academy at West Point and the United States Air Force Academy.

Nominated from New Jersey\’s 2nd Congressional District by Rep. Frank Lobiondo was Brandon Wethman, who was nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

According to the 1st Congressional District site, applicants will be judged on character, scholarship, leadership, physical aptitude, medical fitness, goals, and motivation in determining each nominee’s \”whole person\” evaluation.

If anything good came from the re-election of Obama, it\’s that I\’m seeing an apparent change in state legislatures across the land. The states are beginning to see the threat to state sovereignty our federal government–namely the Obama administration–poses to a free and Constitutional form of government. They seem to shifting their focus from \”How can we manage our state\” to \”How can we protect our right to self govern\”. Since Obama began his anti-gun rhetoric, there have been 47 states draft legislation designed to exempt themselves from government over-reach as Obama attempts to chip away at the Second Amendment.
