There were 100 statewide softball games today in New Jersey. The Star-Ledger had a reporter at the Mount St. Dominic vs. Cedar Grove game and have photographs of Gill St. Bernard\’s vs. Hun.

Liza Brookman went 2-for-2 with a run for Gill St. Bernard\’s as it defeatedHun, 5-4, in Gladstone.

Kennedy Whitehead had two RBI for Gill St. Bernard\’s while Cara Napolitano scored two runs. Amanda Greenbergalso had a hit for Gill St. Bernard\’s.

Roselle Park 2, Bound Brook 1

Tiffany Hunter allowed two hits and one run for Roselle Park as it defeatedBound Brook, 2-1, in Roselle Park.

Jaclyn Wozniak and Kayla White each went 2-for-3 for Roselle Park while White had a double. Charli Fillmore and Aimee Sarboukh each went 2-for-3 for Bound Brook and Sarboukh had a triple.

Sayreville 6, Old Bridge 2

Christina Misiur led a 14-hit attack by going 3-for-3, everyone in the lineup had at least one hit and Erin Fitzsimmons did not yield an earned run en route to a four-hitter as Sayreville beat Old Bridge, 6-2, in Old Bridge.

Emily Cabrera, Mary Kate Kersting and Raelyn Jensen all had two hits forSayreville, which trailed, 2-0, in the second before scoring all six runs in the fourth. Erin Fitzsimmons recorded five strikeouts and no walks. Taylor Torre had two hits for Old Bridge.

OBITUARY: JOSEPH M. KELLY, AGE 80, OF BELLMAWR

Joseph M. Kelly 
(June 26, 1932 – May 2, 2013)

 

\"U.S.Joseph M. Kelly, 80, of Bellmawr, entered into rest on May 2, 2013. Born June 26, 1932 in Philadelphia.

Beloved husband of 57 years to Patricia Kelly (nee Cressler). Devoted father of Patricia Cascia (Joe), Joe Kelly and Eileen Kelly. Loving Pop-Pop of Drew Kelly (Aracelis) and Joseph Cascia and great grandpop of Drew, Sophia, Cheldany and Kenneth. Dear brother of Mary Ellen Schweikert (Pete).

Joe graduated from Bartrum High School and served in the US Army at the White Sands NM Missile Range. He was employed as a plumber with Philadelphia Local 690 and as a pipefitter with Campbell Soup and several construction sites. Joe was a member of VFW Post 9563 in Bellmawr.

Services and interment private at the request of the family.

MERION STATION, Pa. – Saint Joseph’s senior Kyle Mullen (Berwyn, Pa./St. Joseph’s Prep) set a new school record for wins in a career and junior Jimmy Yacabonis (Matawan, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) notched his single-season record eighth save of the season as the SJU baseball team topped Xavier, 2-1, at Smithson Field on Friday afternoon.
