The annual PDK/Gallup poll, released on Wednesday, found that 60 percent of Americans oppose Common Core because they fear the national standards will limit teachers’ flexibility to teach effectively.

EducationNext’s 2014 opinion poll, which was released earlier this week, found teacher opposition to Common Core more than tripled—from 12 percent in 2013 to 40 percent in 2014:

Jason I. Hughes (DOB 7/14/87) was denied a requested reduction in his $50,000 bail today (9/5) on charges that he was carrying a rifle and 337 rounds of ammunition during an 8/27/14 visit to his ex-wife’s residence in Glassboro, in defiance of a restraining order.

 Although the homeless former Millville resident was carrying the Ruger SR 556 unassembled in a bag, \”I can’t think of a reason why you would bring an assault weapon to visit your wife when you have a restraining order,\” Superior Court Judge Robert P. Becker Jr. said in refusing to alter Hughes’ bail.

 Noting that Hughes also was also illegally carrying several 10-round ammunition magazines, Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Vincent Malfitano said his office \”has very strong objections\” to a bail reduction.

 Hughes’ lawyer, Rebecca Donnarumma, said her client made no threats at his former spouse’s home and argued that transporting a weapon that was not ready to fire was \”a little less scary a situation.\”
