Research by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington recently uncovered documents on the websites of the Republican Governors Association (RGA) and the Republican Governors Public Policy Committee (RGPPC) that reveal the intimate access to powerful politicians that donors purchase when they contribute to the two organizations. The documents, which appear to have unintentionally been made public, include detailed descriptions of the \”benefits\” of contributing different amounts of money to the RGA and a list of corporate \”members\” of the RGPPC, an organization that isn’t required to disclose its donors. As CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan told the New York Times, \”Americans all think it’s pay-to-play politics. This is what confirms it.\”
