CREW; Gov. Christie Gets By With A Little Help From His Friends

\"Commentary\"By Jordan Morrisey and Matt Corley

\"Gov.CITIZENS FOR RESPONSBILTIY AND ETHICS IN WASHINGTON--(CREW)–Since entering office, Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) has exhibited a taste for private planes and luxury hotel rooms, especially at the expense of wealthy benefactors. As the governor himself has put it, he is taking advantage of the opportunities offered by his time in office and trying \”to squeeze all the juice out of the orange\” he can. The privately subsidized jet-setting, however, has recently placed the potential 2016 presidential contender in ethical hot water.

First, Gov. Christie and his family accepted a private plane ride and seats in a private suite at a NFL playoff game provided by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. The trip prompted the American Democracy Legal Fund to file a complaint with the New Jersey State Ethics Commission, arguing that Gov. Christie violated state gift rules. Then, the New York Times reported on a 2012 trade mission to Israel that started with a private jet courtesy of casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson and ended with a family weekend in Jordan paid for by King Abdullah II himself. CREW subsequently filed a complaintwith the New Jersey State Ethics Commission against Gov. Christie for accepting gifts of free foreign travel, lodging, and entertainment for himself and his family.

FOREST FIRE SERVICE PRESCRIBED BURNING PROGRAM UNDER WAY

PROGRAM IS INTEGRAL PART OF STATE\’S EFFORTS TO REDUCE WILDFIRE RISKS

(15/P24) TRENTON – New Jersey State Forestry Services advises residents that the seasonal prescribed burning program is under way. The controlled burning program, implemented by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, is an important part of the state\’s strategy to reduce risk of wildfires that could threaten property or lives.

\”Prescribed burning is part of a planned strategy that the state uses to reduce accumulations of undergrowth, fallen branches and downed trees that can act as tinder and increase the severity of wildfires, making them difficult to control,\” said State Forester Lynn Fleming. \”Prescribed burns help protect lives and property and, at the same time, improve the overall health of our forests.\”

No lower bail on 3 armed robbery charges

WOODBURY NJ (March 13, 2015)–After hearing Sean P. Allen (DOB 9/14/73), of Woodbury NJ had made a full confession, a judge today (3/13) denied him any reduction on three separate bails of $100,000 each on charges he used a sawed-off shotgun to rob three Heritage’s stores in the Woodbury area in February 2015.

\”Apparently, the state’s proofs are quite substantial,\” said Superior Court Judge Kevin P. Smith, noting that Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Alec Gutierrez had also pointed out that Woodbury police recovered the shotgun and \”a significant\” amount of ammunition when arresting Allen at his residence on 3/4/15.
