
On July 11, 2015, a long-time resident of Gloucester City, passed away peacefully at Heath Village, Hackettstown, N.J. Helen was born on Jan. 20, 1920 at home in Gloucester City to the late Herman O. Stainker and Charlotte M. (Manduka) Stainker. She was married to Donald Brown for over forty years prior to his passing in 1980. She was also predeceased by 6 siblings; Herman (Harry), William, Earl, Franklin, Charlotte (Marie) and John as well as one Grandson, Harry E. Brown, Jr. Helen is survived by her sons, Donald D. Brown (Naree K.) and Harry E. Brown (Nancy M.) as well as 5 Grandchildren; Donald (Marc) Brown, Heather L. Durr (Kenneth L.), Peter D. Brown (Elizabeth C.), Nancy (Beth) Viglianco (Michael C. ) and Rebecca N. Brown. She is also survived by 7 Great-Grandchildren; Benjamin Durr, Andrew Durr, Madeline Durr, Peter (PJ) Brown, Noah Brown, Sarah Viglianco, and Samuel Viglianco.
Mrs. Brown retired as a Head Salesperson from JC Penney Co. in 1983. She was previously employed by Pauley’s Bakery in Gloucester City as well as other positions locally. She was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Gloucester City, a member and Past President of the Broadway School PTA, and member of both the Monmouth St. and Gloucester City Jr./Sr. High School PTA. She was a life member of the Gloucester City Historical Society.
