In the 1980s and 1990s, it was \”crack babies,\” the supposed epidemic of cocaine crack-addicted babies being born to women who used those drugs while pregnant. The reports of an epidemic were based on a small study of less than two dozen infants, the results misinterpreted and blown out of proportion. The projected generation of children who would be scarred for life never materialized.
