John S. Lopez of Mount Ephraim, Korean War Army Veteran, Weight Lifter, Sports Fan

CNBNewsnet--John S. Lopez, a former resident of Mount Ephraim, died on September 4, 2015 at the age of 87. Most recently Mr. Lopez was a resident of Brookdale Senior Living in Voorhees.
 
Mr. Lopez was a veteran of the Korean War (25th Division), serving with the US Army and National Guard. John loved the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Boxing. He was an avid weight lifter, enjoyed eating Italian food, and talking about his war experiences. John was a member of the VFW and worked over 30 years for RCA in Camden and Deptford.
 
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Winifred Lopez. Devoted father of Mary Lopez (John Mendel), Johnny Lopez, and George Lopez (Shirl Celentano). Loving grandpop of Vincent Celentano (Kimberly), Lisa Palmer (Jesse), and John Eric Mendel. Dear brother of Jennie Morrison (Joseph), Thomas Lopez (Angeline), Rosalie Mignone, Angela Rubino, Catherine Rodenbaugh, Mary Ann Brunetti, and the late Salvatore Lopez. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing from 7 to 9pm Friday evening at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE and from 8:45 to 9:45am Saturday morning at St. Joachim Parish, Annunciation BVM Church, 601 W. Browning Road, Bellmawr. Funeral Mass 10am Saturday at the Church. Interment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.

Railroad-crossing repairs announced for University Boulevard in Glassboro


Necessary safety work will require road closure and detour

(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require the closure and detour of University Boulevard in Glassboro, Gloucester County.

University Boulevard is scheduled to be closed to traffic in both directions at Conrail railroad grade crossing near the intersection of University Boulevard, Oakwood Avenue, and Whitney Avenue from 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, until 7 p.m. Thursday, September 10.
