Over the past month Lindenwold residents have been experiencing an increase in car burglaries. In almost all of the cases thieves have been targeting unlocked vehicles. Almost all of the thefts have occurred during the overnight hours on residential side streets in the Garden Lake Section as well as the neighborhoods along East Atlantic Avenue. Most of these thefts could have been prevented if vehicle owners had remembered to lock their car doors.

HARRISBURG, PN—The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today that the former Director of Marketing and Merchandising for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PA-LCB) pled guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Sylvia H. Rambo to a scheme to defraud the state, its citizens and the PA-LCB of their right to his honest services as a public official through bribes, kick-backs and concealing information.

WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy and U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the United States’ first-ever national food waste reduction goal, calling for a 50-percent reduction by 2030. As part of the effort, the federal government will lead a new partnership with charitable organizations, faith-based organizations, the private sector and local, state and tribal governments to reduce food loss and waste in order to improve overall food security and conserve our nation’s natural resources. The announcement occurs just one week before world leaders gather at the United Nations General Assembly in New York to address sustainable development practices, including sustainable production and consumption. As the global population continues to grow, so does the need for food waste reduction.

Fall \”Take A Kid Hunting\” Youth Hunts

The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife reminds parents, grandparents and mentors of the special opportunities available through the Take a Kid Hunting Program. These days provide a quality hunting experience for properly licensed youth hunters by increasing their opportunity for harvesting game in a setting which encourages responsible and safe hunting practices with a supportive atmosphere.

Anglers who have not yet submitted a Warmwater/Coolwater Survey are urged to do so now. The survey includes questions on fish you target, fishing success and tournaments. Your opinion on fishing opportunities for species such as Largemouth Bass, Muskellunge, Walleye, Channel Catfish and Hybrid Striped Bass is important to biologists formulating management plans for the state\’s waters.

With the Fall Bow season open in many zones and opening statewide on October 3, the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is reminding hunters it is recommended they use synthetic, non-urine-based scents or lures in deer hunting. The infectious prions which cause Chronic Wasting Disease can be spread through urine-based lures.

Studies have shown the prions can survive for years in contaminated soils and the environment. Urine-based scents and lures are not treated to kill the prions as heating or chemical treatments would also reduce the desired scent characteristics.

Hunters using urine-based scents should place them in areas out of contact with deer, the ground or vegetation.
