RETIRED CAMDEN COP RUNNING FOR SHERIFF—Lou Hannon, a retired Camden City Police
Lieutenant has filed as the Republican candidate for the office of Camden County Sheriff. Republican Richard Begley, of Blackwood, who originally filed for the position has stepped down.
A decorated police officer, who is the recipient of the Distinguished Valor Award, Hannon was born and raised in Camden City. He and his wife, along with their two sons, reside in Blackwood.
Asked why he is running in the November election, Hannon said, \”I decided to run so that the sheriff\’s department can continue to have a leader that will demonstrate leadership, integrity and commitment to the men and women of the sheriff\’s department as well as the residents of Camden County. That we can grow and develop initiatives and programs that can assist the 36 municipalities in Camden County if they so choose.\”
Hannon retired from the City of Camden Police Department as a lieutenant While assigned there he served in the investigative division, patrol division, special operations, and operational support division. He was also president of Policemen\’s Benevolent Association Local 35, FOP Lodge 144 and the Camden Organization of Police Superiors (COPS).
