—A member of the Gloucester City Little League recently commented on the organization’s social media page regarding William E. Cleary Sr., the editor of CNBNews. The comment highlighted that Cleary parked his van horizontally, taking up two spaces in the parking lot at the Johnson Blvd Little League campus. In response, Cleary explained that it was early in the morning when he parked this way on the empty lot to avoid a flock of geese nearby. He was there to walk his dog on the jogging track and wanted to prevent her from stepping in goose droppings or chasing the geese. Cleary acknowledged his oversight and apologized for any confusion caused by his actions.

Two Officers Injured While Apprehending A Juvenile Car Burglar

On Friday, October 3, 2025, at approximately 11:50 PM, the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to a report of suspicious individuals examining parked vehicles in the Millbridge neighborhood of Gloucester Township. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male suspect concealing himself behind a boat parked in the driveway of a nearby residence.

Officers attempted to apprehend the male suspect through verbal commands and initiated a foot pursuit when he fled. Officers pursued the suspect, closing the distance and subduing him. During the apprehension, one officer sustained an injury to his knee and back, while the second officer sustained an injury to his hand. The juvenile suspect did not report any injuries.

Both officers received medical attention at an area hospital for their injuries. The juvenile male suspect was released to his mother after being charged with Criminal Attempt Burglary, Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement, and Resisting Arrest.

Armed Home Invasion, Abduction, and Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation

PHILADELPHIA — The following information is preliminary and subject to change. Updates will be provided as they become available. Thank you and have a good day.

In the early hours of Saturday, October 4, 2025, a home invasion and abduction incident unfolded on the 2100 block of Princeton Avenue, leading to a multi-location police response. 

Preliminary investigation reveals that the complainant and his family were confronted by armed individuals shortly after arriving home. 

The suspects forced their way inside, restrained the victims, and stole personal belongings before abducting two family members at gunpoint. The victims were transported to a second location, where the suspects continued their criminal actions and inflicted physical harm.

While in South Philadelphia, police attempted to intervene, resulting in a confrontation on the 2000 block of Albright Street. During the encounter, an officer discharged his firearm, but not injuring anyone. 

The armed suspects fled the scene on foot and remain at large. The victims were freed by responding officers and treated for their injuries. 

The investigation is ongoing with the OIS Unit.

Carol A. Monforte, 83, of Brooklawn

Surrounded by family, age 83, of Brooklawn, on October 1, 2025. Born in Gloucester City, she was the daughter of the late, Howard J. and Caroline (Wiedemann) Theckston. Carol is survived by her husband of 64 years, Louis A. Monforte; loving mother of  Caroline Tisot (Robert Sokolove), MaryBeth Morrison (Steven); cherished grandmother of Victoria Tisot, Katie Tisot and Daniel Morrison. Carol was also predeceased by her brothers, Norman, Howard and Warren Theckston. A homemaker, Carol always had a smile on her face and loved spending time with her family and cherished her time with her grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.

Frank was born and raised in South Philly and was a graduate of Bok Technical School. He was a life member of Cement Masons Local Union 592 in Philadelphia. Frank was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for over 30 years at his church.

ACT OF KINDNESS: A Man With A Heart of Gold

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (CNBNews)(OCT. 6, 2025)–Bill Tourtual, a former resident of Gloucester City, has embarked on a heartfelt mission to honor the memory of Marion E. Patterson by caring for her gravesite since spring. Mrs. Patterson, a cherished member of the Second United Methodist Church at the corner of 8th and Division Streets, lived a remarkable life and passed away in 2018 at the age of 100. In her memory, she left a generous gift to the church, highlighting her commitment to the community.

Tourtual’s dedication to her gravesite reflects a deep sense of respect. He has spread five bags of rich topsoil and grass seed across her grave. His efforts paid off as new grass has started to sprout. He diligently waters it several times a week. Surrounding her final resting place is a charming picket fence that he constructed himself, along with a comforting bench thoughtfully placed nearby for visitors to pause and reflect.

Additionally, Tourtual meticulously scrubbed her tombstone, which had become so obscured by grime that her inscription was nearly indecipherable. His efforts have not only restored the site to its former dignity but also revitalized a place of remembrance.

Despite never having met Mrs. Patterson or knowing her family, Tourtual felt a profound calling to tend to her grave. “I never met Mrs. Patterson, but for some reason, I felt compelled to clean up her final resting place,” he shared, illustrating the deep connection he has forged with her memory through this act of kindness. Last spring, he also removed the weeds and ivy that had overrun the cemetery’s 8-foot cyclone fence near the railroad tracks.
