PHILADELPHIA, PA —In the Philadelphia area, one non-profit is stepping up to support senior dogs in need, and the National Dog Show, hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia is proud to recognize the efforts of City of Elderly Love (COEL).Since 2014, COEL‘s goal has been to help as many senior pets as possible spend their lives in a loving home, instead of a crowded shelter. To help advance their mission, the National Dog Show is making a $5,000 donation and promoting the organization at this year event, set for November 15 and 16 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks, 100 Station Ave, Oaks, PA Tickets are $10-$20 and can be purchased in advance at nationaldogshow.com and at the door during show hours. Each day is a separate, complete dog show with Breed, Group, and Best In Show competition. Saturday’s show is broadcast on Thanksgiving Day on NBC to over 20 million viewers.COEL connects families and individuals willing to adopt or foster a pet with animals in need. The organization focuses on senior dogs and cats, who are often the most vulnerable and in need of a home. “We are honored to be recognized in this way by the National Dog Show,” said Erin Lewin, director of City of Elderly Love. “So many animals will be helped due to their generosity, and it brings comfort and joy to animals and their caregivers alike.”The organization also financially supports families in the area struggling to afford basic supplies and medical care for their pets. COEL’s efforts help to save them from having to surrender their beloved animals, keeping more pets in homes and out of shelters.COEL also serves senior pets in hospice care. Many times, the pets’ diagnoses are unknown until they are rescued, but the group’s initiatives allow them to live out their final days in comfort.COEL is completely funded by donations and is 100% volunteer-staffed, with $0.94 of every dollar donated going directly to services, veterinary costs and supplies.
