PITMAN, NJ – Rowan’s Johnny Troiano was named the NJAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, and teammate Ryan Cleary was recognized as the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year in the league’s annual awards.
Troiano and Cleary were joined on the All-Conference First Team by Evan Schlotterbeck, and Greg Ferreira, with Davide Caputo, Jake Homowitz and Luke McNamee earning selection to the All-NJAC Second Team.
Troiano (Hazlet, NJ) becomes the first Rowan player to become a two-time recipient of the NJAC’s top award and gives the Profs five honorees in the program’s history. Cleary is the sixth Prof to earn the top defensive honor and the first since 2018.
Troiano is named to the All-Conference First Team for the third time as he tops the NJAC in scoring for the second year in a row with 17 goals and five assists. The senior has recorded five game-winning goals this season and has scored multiple goals in five matches, with two hat tricks.
Cleary (Turnersville, NJ) picks up his fourth All-NJAC honor, and his second straight First-Team selection. The senior anchored the Profs’ defense which allowed just 1.25 goals this season and limited the opponents to nine shots per game. Cleary also contributed offensively, as he is tied for second on the team in scoring with 12 points (2 goals, 8 assists).
Schlotterbeck (Cherry Hill, NJ)was named to the All-Conference First Team in his first season with the Profs. The graduate student scored three goals on the year and had one gamewinner, in the 1-0 victory over Stockton.
Ferreira (Gladstone, NJ) is a repeat selection to the All-NJAC First Team as the junior solidified the Profs’ defense. The team co-captain handed out an assist on the season while helping Rowan shut down the opposition.
Caputo (Brick, NJ) picks up his third All-Conference honor with his selection to the Second Team. The senior is tied as the Profs’ second leading scorer with four goals and four assists, which includes one game-winning goal (vs. Franklin & Marshall).
Homowitz (Tinton Falls, NJ) is a three-time All-NJAC honoree and earns his second mention to the Second Team. The team co-captain handed out three assists this season from his spot in the midfield.
In his first year at Rowan, McNamee (Pearl River, NY) is chosen to the All-NJAC Second Team. The junior was one of the team’s top playmakers with seven assists, while he scored one goal.
The 24th-ranked Profs (13-3-4) will head to rival Stockton on Wednesday for an NJAC Championship semifinal match at 7 p.m. Third-seeded Rowan is the defending conference champion and seeking its third NJAC title in the past four years.
