Philadelphia Police Investigating the Following Incidents

The following information is preliminary and subject to change. Updates will be provided as they become available.

On Sunday, December 21, 2025, at approximately 9:45 a.m., officers assigned to the 5th District responded to a radio call at 5xx Wartman Street for a stabbing at the residence. Upon arrival, officers located a 57-year-old male suffering from a stab wound to the rib area. Officers immediately transported the victim to Jefferson–Einstein Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 10:19 a.m. A 16-year-old female was taken into custody for further investigation. The investigation remains ongoing with the Homicide Unit.

Earlier that morning, on December 21, 2025, at approximately 5:47 a.m., officers from the 3rd District responded to Jefferson Hospital for reports of two walk-in gunshot victims. Victim #1, a 19-year-old male, was taken immediately into surgery after sustaining a gunshot wound to the right thigh. Victim #2, a 22-year-old male, also suffered a gunshot wound to the right thigh and was listed in stable condition. Victim #2 reported that the shooting occurred in the area of 1900 South 7th Street. Officers responded to that location and secured the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates that the victims had just parked their vehicle when an argument ensued between them and three unknown males. During the dispute, one of the males produced a firearm and began shooting. After being struck, both victims drove themselves to the hospital, where they were met by police. 

The investigation is ongoing with the Shooting Investigation Group. The motive is an argument.

On Sunday , December 21, 2025, at approximately 4:49 a.m., officers assigned to the 17th District responded to a hospital-related radio call involving a two-year-old child reported not breathing at a residence on the 2100 block of Titan Street. Medic arrived on location and initiated CPR. The child was transported to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was pronounced deceased at 5:31 a.m. The cause of death has not yet been determined. The investigation is ongoing with the Special Victims Unit.

Additionally, on December 21, 2025, at approximately 4:05 a.m., officers from the 19th District responded to the 1500 block of North Robinson Street, where they located an adult female who had been shot multiple times throughout her body. Police transported the victim to Penn–Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition. A female infant, less than one year old, was also found suffering from a single gunshot wound to the left leg. The infant was transported by police to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and was listed in stable condition. The shooter is unknown at this time. The investigation remains ongoing with the Shooting Investigation Group. Updates will be provided as they become available.

On Saturday, December 20, at approximately 3:44 a.m., an auto/bicycle crash occurred in the 19th District at the intersection of North 56th Street and Lancaster Avenue, resulting in a fatal injury to Unit #2, the bicyclist.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Unit #1, a red SUV possibly a Jeep Cherokee, and Unit #2, a bicycle, were both traveling westbound on Lancaster Avenue, with Unit #1 following a short distance behind Unit #2. As Unit #2 began to make a left turn southbound onto North 56th Street, it was struck by Unit #1. Following the impact, Unit #1 appeared to swerve and continued westbound on Lancaster Avenue.

Philadelphia Fire Department medics responded to the scene and transported the operator of Unit #2, a 54-year-old male, to Lankenau Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 4:47 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing with the Crash Investigation Division.
On Friday, December 19, 2025, at approximately 8:56 PM, an auto versus pedestrian crash occurred in the 25th District at the intersection of Whitaker Avenue and Wyoming Avenue, resulting in one fatal injury. The preliminary investigation indicates that Unit #1 was traveling northbound on Whitaker Avenue when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing in the crosswalk at Wyoming Avenue. After the collision, the operator of Unit #1 briefly looked at the victim and then fled the scene, continuing northbound on Whitaker Avenue. Unit #1, a 2012 white Infiniti M37, was later located unoccupied in the area of A/Louden Streets and will be seized for further investigation. The pedestrian, a 63-year-old female, was transported by medic unit to Temple Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 9:34 PM. 

The investigation is ongoing with the Crash Investigation Division.
