Nellie Pou Accused of Push to Flood NJ with Illegal Mail-In Ballots

Pino condemns Pou’s demand for USPS to defy federal election security; Slams GOP Primary Opponent’s Silence on Protecting Legal Voters

Rosie Pino, four-term local elected official and Republican candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 9th District, today issued a sharp rebuke of Nellie Pou and New Jersey Democrats following their formal demand that the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) ignore federal executive orders aimed at securing the nation’s mail-in ballot system.

The controversy centers on a letter personally spearheaded by Pou, urging the USPS to refuse compliance with mandates designed to verify the citizenship of ballot recipients. These federal orders require the USPS to cross-reference mailing lists with updated citizenship data to ensure ballots are only transmitted to eligible American voters.

“It is disappointing to see Nellie Pou openly calling for a federal agency to defy measures intended to ensure every legal vote is counted and every illegal vote is stopped,” said Rosie Pino. “Election integrity is the cornerstone of our Republic.  Resisting basic citizenship checks for mail-in ballots is a step in the wrong direction for election transparency.”

Pino emphasized that these safeguards are a direct response to concerns that the current system allows for the dilution of legal votes.

“Voters deserve to know that their choice matters and that their voice isn’t being canceled out by lawlessness,” Pino continued. “If you aren’t a citizen, you don’t get a vote. Period.”

While Pou leads the charge to weaken election safeguards, Pino’s Republican Primary opponent, Tiffany Burress, has remained silent. Pino noted that this silence is particularly telling given the Burress campaign’s own history of electoral misconduct, including submitting harvested petition signatures from voters who never intended to sign and providing false information regarding her signature-gathering operation.

“Whether it’s Nellie Pou trying to force the USPS to ignore the law, or Tiffany Burress trying to cut corners with illegal nominating signatures, the message is clear: I am the only candidate in this race who respects the rule of law and the sanctity of the legal vote,” Pino concluded.

Rosie Pino is calling on the USPS to reject Pou’s demands and fully uphold federal law to ensure the 2026 elections are decided solely by eligible American citizens.
