Boulden Rider’s Coca-Cola Community All-American
LAWRENCEVILLE—Ashley Boulden of Brooklawn, (pictured with student) a senior on the Rider University field hockey and softball teams, is Rider’s nominee for the Coca-Cola Community All-American award.
An Elementary Education/Special Education major, Boulden has been an active member of the Rider Council for Exceptional Children, a volunteer organization that plans activities for local students with disabilities, and works with the ARC Mercer Adult Program. She is also a member of the National Council for Exceptional Children, representing Rider at the State Conference, and has also participated in Rider’s Toys for Tots program, the Thanksgiving Basket program for the Needy and the Easter Basket program for the Needy.
The 2003 South Jersey Athlete of the Year at Gloucester High School, Boulden was a four-year starter on the Rider field hockey team, helping the Broncs win two Northeast Conference regular season titles and one NEC Championship Tournament. On the Rider softball diamond she enters her senior season with 99 career hits, 36th highest ever at Rider.
Boulden was named to the Rider Department of Education Honor Society and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic All-American team, the NEC All-Academic Field Hockey Team and to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Softball Team, maintaining a 3.788 cumulative grade point average.
The Coca-Cola Community All-Americans program is designed to help institutions recognize, celebrate and applaud student-athletes who are making a difference in their communities.
In April, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) will select seven student-athletes from the nominations received as Coca Cola Community All-Americans. The student-athletes will be honored in June at the annual NACDA Convention held this year in Orlando, Fla.
