Re: Meeting on Ft. Nassau Playground

If what Mr. Gorman says is true then all receipts for the materials for
the park and the reports from the testing should be on file with the
city. It hasn\’t been that long ago that it was built.

If the city doesn\’t have this information then the chairman of the committee to build the playground should have these records. These should be on hand at the meeting to help give intelligent answer to important questions asked at the meeting.

Or do we have to have several meetings and a lawyer involved to get simple answers from documents that should be on hand. If they can\’t be found in time for the meeting, maybe it shouldbe rescheduled now instead wasting everyones time with answers like, \”Idon\’t know\” and \”I\’ll have to get back to you on that\”.

This seems to be the way every meeting in this town goes.
What do you want to bet this one is the same?

Universal Health insurance for NJ

Blue Jersey Discussion For The Day

Since property tax reform is going so well, I thought I\’d bring attention to a Philadelphia Inquireruniversal health insurance will be considered next. As our discussion today indicates, that doesn\’t sound so promising. On the other hand, the current situation is bad, and reform in Washington is not likely in the short term. Senator Joseph Vitale has been working on the plan quietly for some time. Unfortunately, we\’re talking about over a billion dollars per year.
Vitale says that if nothing is done: report that Governor Corzine says

\”We will have more uninsured, our costs will continue to spin out of control, employers will continue to drop coverage, people will get sicker, children will lose thousands of hours of school time, and the economy will suffer because adults have missed work because of preventable illness,\” said Vitale, chairman of the Senate Health Committee. \”Hospitals will be at even greater risk of insolvency… . And it will only get worse.\”

Plans requiring health insurance have been passed in Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine; California is seriously considering another. Here\’s why, even putting aside our state\’s financial mismanagement, it will be tougher here than in New England, according to a December 2006 article on the New Jersey in the Insurance Journal.

New Jersey has more than twice as many uninsured residents as the number living in those New England states combined, however. New Jersey\’s uninsured includes 614,000 who earn too much to qualify for existing subsidized programs, 400,000 who are in the state illegally, and 300,000 who are eligible for Medicaid or FamilyCare, but are not enrolled.

Anyway, at that time the plan was:

  • The state would offer one state-sponsored plan for people who do not have employer-based medical coverage.
  • Low-income residents would pay on a sliding scale, depending on how much they make. The fees have not yet been determined.
  • Everyone would be required to have health insurance, just like they are required to carry auto insurance.
  • Businesses would not be required to offer coverage, just like the [sic] don\’t now.

    Chuckles

One day, a diver was enjoying the aquatic world 20 feet below
sea level. He noticed a guy at the same depth he was, but he
had on no scuba gear whatsoever.

The diver went below another 20 feet, but the guy joined him a
few minutes later. The diver went below 25 feet, but minutes
later, the same guy joined him. This confused the diver, so he
took out a waterproof chalkboard set, and wrote, \"How the heck
are you able to stay under this deep without equipment?\"

The guy took the board and chalk, erased what the diver had
written, and wrote, \"I\'m drowning, you moron!\"

Bills Opinion: Three Corner Park restored

GLOUCESTER CITY-The dilapidated Three Corner Park at the intersection of Burlington and Middlesex Streets, has recently been brightened up with brand new equipment.

The old playground equipment at the former $100,000 park built in the 1980\’s wasn\’t maintained. Broken down swings, park benches unfit for anyone to sit on, and the rusted sliding boards were unsafe for the kids to use. The park was surrounded by weeds and debris. The run down condition of park was featured on ClearysNotebook in August and September 2006.

It is nice to see the City paid attention to our remarks and fixed the problem. Now it is up to the people in the neighborhood to make sure that vandals don\’t destroy it.
