Regarding the Missing or Damaged Street Signs

Hello all,

Just an update on the street sign issue (on S. Harley anyway). I called the Gloucester City Public Works Department and had a pleasant experience with the lady who takes the calls. Don\’t want to mention her name in a public message, but do have to say she was extremely nice, very polite and helpful.

Apparently the city did not know our sign was missing and it

appears no one has called about it in the past. She informed me she
would take care of the matter and was very kind about it. I also
mentioned our parking issue up the corner with some of the cars parked
on the corner protruding onto Thompson Ave. I inquired about a sign
possibly being put up or maybe some painted curbs to deter parking so
close.

If anyone has ever turned down our street or left our street,

you\’ll know that it is impossible to see in either direction on
Thompson to see if cars are coming (unless you have a truck that sits
up high enough to see over the parked cars). And when you do make that
turn, you get the feeling you\’re driving a Mack Truck making that wide
turn.

Not to mention a few times kids have run out in between those

cars and you also can\’t see the kids crossing the street coming home
from/going to school until you come right upon them at the corner.

Just want to say Kudo\’s to the lady I spoke with today for her kindness in helping with this matter. She was passing the word on to her manager so hopefully a new sign will be erected soon.

Anyone missing a sign, please give them a call. They seem very eager to help in these instances. The phone number for the Public Works Department is 456-0781.
