Obit-Mikey Brinn of Gloucester City

BRINN, MICHAEL J. \’MIKEY\’
Age 53 years of Gloucester died Friday April 6, 2007 in Cooper Hospital, Camden. Mr. Brinn was born in Abington, PA, raised in Paulsboro and lived in Gloucester for the last 9 years. He worked with his brother Joe in the family business, Brinn\’s Remodeling. Mr. Brinn enjoyed playing pool, fishing and swimming. He also liked to dance and listen to music.
He is survived by his Mother, Doris Brinn Hommer; his Sister, Doris Brinn and his Brother, William Brinn, all of Gloucester. Mr. Brinn was predeceased by his Father, Maurice Brinn and his brother, Maurice \’Joe\’ Brinn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday, April 11, 2007 in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 7th and Beacon Aves., Paulsboro. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 PM and Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM in the McBRIDE-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 228 West Broad Street, Paulsboro. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.

Gloucester City\’s Tina Londino playing at William Paterson

The William Paterson University softball team (15-5) ran its winning streak to seven games with a doubleheader sweep of DeSales (4-10), 11-3 (five innings) and 7-3, April 1 at the Pioneer Softball Field.

In the home half of the same inning, Sierra reached second thanks to a Bulldog error, and was lifted for pinch runner Tina Londino (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City HS), who scored during the next at-bat when Zippler doubled to right-center field. Story Continues

Rider\’s Ashley Boulden of Brooklawn Honored on National Student-Athlete Day


LAWRENCEVILLE—Eleven Rider University student-athletes were honored Friday as part of the 20th annual National Student-Athlete Day.

Senior Ashley Boulden from field hockey and softball, junior Kim Carter from soccer, senior Kelly-Ann Chouinard from tennis, senior Adrianne Glasgow of swimming & diving, junior Janele Henderson from basketball, junior Kevin Hickman from basketball, senior Erik Holck from baseball, junior Jimmy Leone from tennis, junior Aimee Schiller from softball, junior Katrina Stehle from volleyball and junior Lee Tomasso from soccer were honored Friday.

Boulden (Brooklawn, N.J./Gloucester) is an Elementary Education/Special Education major (3.788 grade point average) who serves on the National Council for Exceptional Children and is a starter on both the field hockey and the softball teams. Boulden was a member of both the Northeast Conference (field hockey) and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (softball) All-Academic teams.Story Continues

Garage fire in Deptford

A one-alarm fire was contained to a garage at 38 Knollwood Drive in Deptford this afternoon, according to Gloucester County dispatch.

The fire was reported at 1:11 p.m. Firefighters arrived at 1:14 p.m. and extinguished the blaze. An unidentified person suffered minor injuries.

Cherry Hill explosion

At 15:42 hours the Cherry Hill Fire Department, BLS, and ALS were dispatched to a report of an explosion at the Cherry Hill Mall complex. Responding apparatus were advised that the explosion reportedly occurred in the JC Penny\’s wing.

Engine 1352 and HAZMAT 13 arrived and set – up forward command while Battalion 1303 arrived and set up unified command in the parking lot.

After recon it was determined that a water bottle exploded and that there was no injuries.

Cherry Hill Police,Camden County Bomb Squad,Cherry Hill SWAT team, Camden County Fire Marshals Office, and the Department of Environmental Protection were all on scene. The incident remains under investigation.
