Leap year babies stay young as quadrennial celebration returns*

Virginia \”Ginny\” Neilio of Brooklawn was born in 1936, but this year she\’s only celebrating her 18th real birthday.

Born on leap day, Neilio, who\’ll really be 72, will celebrate in Atlantic City with her daughter, spending the day at the Borgata and seeing \”Finnegan\’s Wake\” at the Showboat.

\”I said to one of my co-workers, \”Just think. I\’m finally gonna be legal,\’ and my co-worker said \”Ginny, you and legal don\’t go in the same sentence,\’ \” said Neilio, a manufacturing engineer coordinator.

Those born on a leap day have different traditions. While on off years they celebrate on Feb. 28 or March 1, many have blow out parties every four years when the calender reads Feb. 29.
