DOROTHY M. BAND of Gloucester City, St. Mary Church parishioner

Mass of Christian Burial was held for Dorothy M. Band, (nee McQuillan), 88, formerly Dorothy Ryan, of Gloucester City, who passed away on December 22, 2008.

Loving wife of the late Charles E. Band and the late Wilmer Ryan. Devoted and caring mother of Bill (Barbara) Ryan, Rick (fiancée Helen) Ryan, Kevin (Lori) Ryan and Kathleen McDonald. Loving grandmother of Bill (Alissa) Ryan, Meredith McDonald, Christine McDonald, Jessica Ryan and Meghan Ryan. Loving great grandmother of Abigail and Erin Ryan. Dear sister of Esther McCormac, Margaret Kelly and Nancy Wischum.

Dorothy was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s R.C. Church. She worked ten years for Rudd, McDonough Esq. in Westmont. Dorothy worked many years with the Meals on Wheels and was a member Gloucester City Seniors Association.

Christian Mass was held at Saint Mary’s R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester. Interment at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.

WILLIAM E. JAMES, JR. of Fairview, Camden NJ, member of VFW Post 3620

VFW Services were held for William E. James, Jr., 88, of Fairview section of Camden, who died December 17, 2008.

Mr. James was a retired printer operator for Containers Corp. in PA. and a WWII Army veteran. He also was a member of the VFW# 3620.

Devoted father of Lisa (William) Henesey of North East Philadelphia. Loving grandfather of Jessica, Leah and Sarah. Great grandfather of Aiden.

Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pitman.

Gloucester City Administrator Jack Lipsett

Jack Lipsett, the new administrator for Gloucester City, hired on December 29, 2008, will begin work today, (Monday, January 5). Lipsett will receive an annual salary of $95,000. He replaces Paul Kain, who was being paid the same salary for that position along with holding down the job of municipal clerk. Kain will continue as the City’s municipal clerk, annual salary $65,000.

Asked why Kain is being replaced Mayor Bill James said, \”Because of the impact of all our new projects and the projects that have been initiated over the years, it is this administrations well thought out conclusion that addressing our present situation requires a full time City Administrator. We have after interviewing 8 solid candidates, hired Jack Lipsett, an individual with a diverse knowledge base, the nonbiased ability to freshly review existing conditions, prior administrative experience, and an impressive educational background. At this time I want to thank Paul Kain for all his hard work and dedication to his prior position and I and Council look forward to working with him in his capacity as City Clerk.\”

Lipsett resides in Cherry Hill. For the past 10 years he has been in the municipal management field and has experience in both small and large towns. According to his resume his professional experience includes:

MARY \”MARIE\” VILLA of Bellmawr

A Funeral Mass was held at Mary, Mother of the Church, for Mary \”Marie\” Villa, (Gianfortuno), 90, of Bellmawr, who died December 17, 2008.

Mary worked for the March of Dimes for 25 years; and, also worked at the family business, Villa’s Produce Market.

Beloved wife of the late James. Devoted mother of Peter J. (Susan) Villa of Bellmawr. Loving grandmother of James (Shannon) Villa of Douglassville, PA and Mary Olivia Villa.

Entombment was in New Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
