FLORENCE E. HUGHES, Gloucester City High School Alumni, Class of 1933

An Arwames Rebekah Service was held for Florence E. Hughes, 93, (nee Van Stine) of Collingwood, formerly of Gloucester City who died on December 13, 2008.

She was the beloved wife of the late John Hughes and loving mother of Jack Hughes (Sidney Anne) of Gloucester. She was the dear sister of Elva Cavallo of Monroeville and Harriet Riggins of Sicklerville and proud grandmother of Hope Poole (Steven), Jonathan Hughes (Marian), Jennifer Ravelli (Stephen and the late Blake Hughes. Her dear great grandchildren Rebecca, Jonathan, Jackson, Timothy, Harris, Isaiah and great god daughter Mercedes Johnson also survive her.

Florence was born and raised in Gloucester City and was a graduate of GHS Class of 1933. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mt. Ephraim where she served in the Women’s Auxiliary. Florence was also a member of the Arwames Rebekah Lodge of Gloucester City and the Sears Retiree Club of SJ.

Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery, Washington Twp.
