Gloucester City Council Appointments for 2009

Gloucester City Council held its 140th annual reorganization meeting January 5, and announced appointments for various positions in the City.

The following companies and individuals were appointed to yearly positions:

Auditor, Bowman & Company; City Solicitor, John Kearney; City Engineer, Edward Vernick; Prosecutor, Paul Dougherty; Public Defender, Charles Wigginton; City Planner, The Waetzman Planning Group; Redevelopment Engineer, T&M Associates; and Bond Counsel, Parker McCay.

Solicitor Kearney thanked Mayor and Council on behalf of all the professionals who were appointed.

Also on the agenda were appointments to various Boards and Committees.

Named to the Planning Board were Jess Torres (Mayor’s Designee), Nick Marchese (Council Representative), Adrianne Parent, Pat Cerrone, and alternate members Steve Martorano, Lynn Bucher, Adam Baker and Mark Williams.

Named to Board of Health were Joseph Hartzel and James Johnson for three-year terms. Vanessa Cour-ant was appointed to fill the one-year unexpired term of John P. Schmidt. Bruce Marks and Dayl Baile were appointed as alternate members.

Mary Lou Adams, Fran Pollander and Paula Conroy were appointed to the Gloucester City Historic Preservation Committee.

Colleen Hagan and Joanne Gurick were appointed to the Gloucester City Library Board of Trustees.

Following the appointments and passage of resolutions, Mayor William P. James delivered his 2009 State of the City Address.

Also, City Council Finance Chairman Nicholas Marchese spoke about the finances of the City.
