BAGHDAD, Feb. 20, 2009 – The U.S. military fielded its 10,000th mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicle in Iraq today during a ceremony on Camp Liberty, just 22 months after it was introduced into the theater of operations.

KABUL, Afghanistan, Feb. 21, 2009 – An investigation into a Feb. 17 coalition air strike in Afghanistan\’s Heart province has confirmed that 13 noncombatants and three enemy fighters were killed, military officials reported.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 19, 2009 – A Colorado-based group is connecting deployed troops with volunteers eager to \”adopt\” them.

Since its inception four years ago, \”Adopt a U.S. Soldier\” has connected more than 100,000 servicemembers to 265,000 supportive Americans who have sent them regular care packages, wrote letters and, on occasion, run errands for family members. 

The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife has opened registration for sportsmen and sportswomen to participate in the snow goose Conservation Order (CO). The CO will be held from March 11 – April 18, 2009.

A Conservation Order is a special management action authorized by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act that is needed to control certain wildlife populations when traditional management programs are unsuccessful in preventing overabundance of that population. The CO allows for an extended time period outside of traditional hunting seasons, as well as additional methods, for taking snow geese without bag limits. This action is granted under the authority of the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Loving mother of Janice, Duane, Dan, Vicki and the late Jackie Barlow, Jr. Loving grandmother of 7 and great-grandmother of 4. Dear sister of Dorothy Bartley, Thelma Schoeler, William Lundquist, Florence Wiley and the late Victor Lundquist. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mildred worked many years in the banking industry for People’s Bank in Brooklawn and United Jersey in Westmont. She enjoyed life, was devoted to her family and friends, loved to have fun and was always lending a hand.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday morning from 9 to 11 am at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth Street, (at Brown Street) Gloucester City.
