Brooklawn Council Approves Cat Ordinance

The Brooklawn Borough Council met January 26 instead of the regular third Monday meeting date due to the MLK holiday.

Council approved an ordinance on second reading that would establish rules pertaining to the keeping of cats and use of the County animal patrol.

Mayor and Council also approved the appointment of Dawn Abate as court administrator and authorized an agreement with the NJ Department of Protection (DEP) in order to accept a 2009 Green Community Grant to implement more environmental proj-ects in the town.

Usually, bills are submitted for payment approval at the meetings. A resolution was made and approved to pay certain bills prior to meeting dates in order to expedite the payments when bills are presented.

EMS applications were approved for Robert Coyle, Glenn Carty and Erwin Lafferty.

A discussion was held regarding the old fire truck and police car. Borough authorities will work out the procedures in disposing of the vehicles.

Richard was a retired employee of Trans World Airlines, Philadelphia.

ROBERT E. (BOBBY) KRAUSS of Bellmawr


Funeral Services were held for Robert E. (Bobby) Krauss, 58, of Bellmawr, who passed away after a strong battle with cancer, January 23, 2009.

Bob was a decorated officer who spent a lifetime in service to his country, community, family and friends. Founding member of 78th Div. WWII LHA.

Devoted father of Erika West and her husband Bill. Beloved son of Dolores Curatola and step-son of Frank Curatola and sister Barbara Krauss. Proud grandfather to Derick and Dylan.

Interment was in Harleigh Cemetery, Camden.

Funeral services were held for Doris E. \”Dolly\” Besso, (nee Farrell), 83, of Clementon, formerly of Bellmawr who passed away on January 27, 2009.

Beloved wife of the late James W. Besso. Devoted mother of the late Sheila Piazza. Loving grandmother of Nicole Eder (Erich). Dear greatgrandmother of Olivia.

Mrs. Besso was an employee of RCA for 38 years. She was a member of the Bellmawr Democrat Club.

Freeholders Honor Bellmawr sports organizations

The Camden County Board of Freeholders praised and rewarded Bellmawr for their recycling efforts during a Town Meeting January 22 at the Bellmawr Community Centre.

Cub Scout Pack 185, along with Girl Scout Troop 30437, led the capacity crowd, some standing room, in the Pledge of Allegiance. Following the pledge, the Bell Oaks Chorale, under the direction of Mrs. Ross, performed the National Anthem.

Memorial services will be held at a later date for Dorothy Joann Yerkes, 76, of Interlachen, FL who passed away on January 29, 2009. She was a native of Madison, WI and had been a resident of Interlachen for the past 13 years coming from Orange Park, FL.

Mrs. Yerkes was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, a native of Gloucester City, David Yerkes, III. Beloved mother of David Yerkes, IV of Interlachen and Mary Chapman of Lewiston, Idaho and two grandchildren. Brother to Bill (Thelma) Harvey of Little Rock, AR and sister to Barbara Keuntjes of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
