Through the Camden County Improvement Authority, the borough fire department was able to fully finance the project with no down payment. The new firehouse will replace an aging, 50-year-old fire hall with a leaking roof and aging utilities on Bell Road. The inadequate, 60-year-old garage attachment houses fire trucks that barely clear the door by less than 6 inches and allows only 3 feet of room for the firefighters to gear up for calls. An outdated recreation room showcases worn furniture and old display cases hold a few framed memories.
