With sales of the 2009-10 license set to begin in mid-June, Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe is reminding all first-time license buyers to make plans to attend a Hunter-Trapper Education (HTE) course now.

To register for a course in your area, visit the Game Commission’s website (www.pgc.state.pa.us), select the \”Hunter Education Classes\” icon in the center of the homepage, and then follow the instructions.

The NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife\’s 2009 Marine Recreational Minimum Size, Possession Limits and Seasons Summary Card will not be available at local bait and tackle shops, marinas, sporting good stores, and marine supply stores until the third week of June.

However, a PDF of the summary card has been posted on the division\’s website and can be viewed and printed online at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/pdf/2009/maregcard09.pdf . An online version of the Marine Digest is available at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/digmar.htm .

On a breezy, cloudy evening under the lights, the Rams and Lions played a tremendous softball game.

Great pitching and defense were on display before more than 1,000 lively fans enjoying a Saturday night – and occasionally questioning a call or two by the umpires.

The Gloucester Catholic and Gloucester City softball teams are among the five best in South Jersey – and they proved it.

Also, it was an excellent tune-up for both teams before the state playoffs.

Just Kids by Archway Programs currently provides before and after school child care for students throughout various districts in South Jersey.

But, Superintendent Joseph Rafferty advised the Mount Ephraim Board of Education (BOE) that Mary Bray School will be running the before and after school child care in the future. Instead of the revenue leaving the district, it has the potential to decrease the overall tax burden, which could result in lower taxes for residents.

A parent of a second grade student told the School Board that he feels the school is run like a prison due to the limited access parents have to the school, such as not being allowed in the gym for the Halloween parade if it was to have rained that day.

Following the swearing in of incumbents Louisa Llewellyn, Ray Coxe and Edward Hubbs at the reorganization meeting, members of the Gloucester City Board of Education (BOE) re-elected Llewellyn to serve as Board president, while Coxe was chosen to continue as vice-president.

During the regular meeting, teacher Rachel Clancy, Chairman of the Gloucester City Education Association (GCEA)’s Sick Bank Com-mittee, thanked the Board for meeting with the committee members to quickly and painlessly come to an agreement on the sick bank guidelines.

A sick bank usually is designed to aid employees who have used all of their accrued sick, personal and vacation time due to an injury or illness of their own or due to the health issue of a family member.

Llewellyn also praised the GCEA for a smooth and pleasant negotiation.

On behalf of the volunteers of the Helping Hand Food Ministry, I would like to thank the Gloucester City Postal Workers for organizing the food drive last week. It was very successful and added greatly to our food supply.

With the start of summer it is only fitting to announce a new state of the art fishing web site. Fishcrazed.com is a local forum bringing together both fishermen (and women) with industry professionals. The site is the creation of 2 local South Jersey lifelong recreational fishermen. The website intends to provide up to date fishing reports, weather reports and other areas of interest.

Obama expressed hope that the spirit of Memorial Day will extend beyond the actual holiday observance. 

He said he’s committed as president to honoring the nation’s \”sacred trust\” to those who wear or have worn the uniform – a trust he conceded it hasn’t always lived up to.
\”All too often in recent years and decades, we, as a nation, have failed to live up to that responsibility,\” he said. \”We have failed to give them the support they need or pay them the respect they deserve.\”
