By avenging its only loss of the Middle East and Africa (MEA) Region Tournament, Arabian American Little League from Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, qualified for its 10th consecutive Little League Baseball World Series.

The Arabian American Little League defeated Dubai Little League from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 15-0, in the MEA championship game, and earned a berth in the Little League Baseball World Series for the 16th time since 1991.

GLOUCESTER CITY-PHOTO of flooding at Broadway & Market St at 5:04pm today. The heavy rains that came through the area left some parts of the City underwater. Some communities in South Jersey got three inches of rain in 24 minutes according to the weather station.

Mayor Bill James said, \”The country is in the middle of a recession. We have asked all bargaining units to work with us this year so no one will lose their job. Businesses in the private sector are laying people off. Some are going out of business altogether. Homeowners are facing foreclosures. Unemployment is at an all time high. The City has no money available for raises.\”

The police union, according to my sources, says if that is the case why did mayor and council recently hired a new employee for the 32 man fire department.

Nearly every game of the Junior League Softball World Series, Big League Softball World Series, Little League Baseball World Series, Junior League Baseball World Series, Senior League Baseball World Series and Big League Baseball World Series can be seen live, thanks to Little League International’s new relationship with webcasting partner Youth Sports Live.

The action starts today in Easley, S.C., where the Big League Baseball World Series gets under way. How It Started

The ShopRite organization recognized the pervasive problem of hunger experienced by so many people right in the neighborhoods served by their stores. It’s a problem that not only exists during the holiday season, when attention is focused on charitable giving, but it also exists throughout the year. ShopRite had already been helping to fight the problem of hunger for more than 20 years through its support of the Feeding America network (formerly America’s Second Harvest) and through participation in the Checkout Hunger program, but wanted to do more.

In 1999, ShopRite conceived and began its ShopRite Partners In Caring program, a year-round, community based hunger fighting initiative. With the help of more than 50 manufacturers, the program is committed to helping to feed and meet the nutritional needs of families and the elderly who may otherwise go without. These generous companies are a major reason why ShopRite Partners In Caring has been such a success.

Today, the ShopRite Partners In Caring program supports 23 regional food banks and more than 1,400 charitable agencies with food or meal components. With a $2 million annual donation, more than $20 million has been donated since 1999 in the fight against hunger.

How It Works

I found this photo of the \”Gloucester House\” located at 118 Mississippi Avenue in Atlantic City. My grandfather (James White) owned it. The \”Gloucester House\” was a rooming house, bar and pool hall. After it was torn down in 1923 to make way for the Atlantic City Convention Hall he opened up the \”White House\” at Washington and Atlantic Avenues in Margate.
He grew up at 801 Jersey Ave., here in Gloucester City. He had five brothers, Samuel (died as a youth), John, Charles (was a policeman in the late 1800’s early 1900’s), Joseph (was a Justice-of-the-Peace), and Frank (was a fireman). That is my grandfather and grandmother standing in back, on the left.
His father, my Great-grandfather was a Gloucester City councilman in 1869-71 when he died.
