Mayor William James and City Council approved an ordinance last week relating to Chapter 15 of the Gloucester City code entitled Alcoholic Beverages.

The ordinance will allow bars and saloons to serve breakfast and brunch on Sunday mornings.

Currently, establishments are not permitted to open, or sell alcohol, until 1 p.m. on Sundays.

With the new law, they will still not be allowed to serve alcohol until the specified time of 1 p.m., as allowed in the City code.
