DCA Announces Property Tax Relief: Gloucester City Receives $100,000, Brooklawn $30,000

TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Acting Commissioner Charles A. Richman today announced 2009 Extraordinary Aid awards for calendar year budget municipalities.

\”Governor Corzine has worked tirelessly to ease the burden on New Jersey residents,\” said Acting Commissioner Richman. \”His efforts have resulted in the lowest property tax increase in years. Extraordinary aid is just another way to ease that burden and ensure that local governments can maintain services essential to their community.\”

Extraordinary Aid is awarded to municipalities who, because of extreme circumstances, would not be able to provide essential services to the community without a substantial increase in their property tax rate.
