TCNJ’S SHTEMBERG AND TRINH FALLS IN ITA DOUBLES TITLE MATCH
Mobile, AL… The College of New Jersey’s Jackie Shtemberg (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) and Felice Trinh (Linden, NJ/Linden) saw their bid at claiming the institution’s first ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) National Small College Championships in doubles come up just short as the Lion duo fell in the finals on Friday.
Shtemberg and Trinh fell to second seeded and defending champion Julie Browne and Meghan McCooey of Tufts University by the score of 7-5 and 6-3.
The pair boasted the best doubles finish at the tournament in program history and they also claimed ITA All-American honors. Shtemberg and Trinh won eight straight matches heading into the final and capped their successful fall portion of the schedule with a 9-2 record.
The event was held at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama.
TCNJ HARRIERS PERFORM WELL AT INTER-REGIONAL RUMBLE
Oberlin, OH… The College of New Jersey cross country teams turned in strong performances at the 2009 Inter-Regional Rumble held on Saturday at Oberlin College.
Running amongst a strong field, the Lion women placed seventh in the 25-team field with 220 points, while the men claimed 10th out of 28 institutions with 284 points.
Johns Hopkins University took top team honors in the women’s race with 62 points, while the men’s race was won by New York University with 28 points.
