Sunday, March 21, 2010By Scott Chappelear [email protected]GLOUCESTER Annie Payton took the inbounds pass with four seconds left and heaved the ball backward over her head with both hands toward the net some 85 feet away, getting in one last bit of fun as the horn sounded on the Albert J. Carino Girls Basketball Club High School All-Star Game at Gloucester High School. The Camden High School senior and her South squad teammates jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the opening five minutes Saturday, saw the South stars rally to within six behind the work of Eastern star Genevieve Okoro, but then pulled away in the fourth for a 77-59 victory that was nearly as fun to watch as it was for the girls to play in or to coach.

Even though more then half of the country is against Obama care our leaders in Washington have thumbed their noses at the majority. President Obama ran on a platform of less government. If the bill passes, it will give the government control of 17% of the US economy, about $2.5 trillion. That in itself should scare all of us. Just look at the record, government controlled programs such as social security, Medicare, the post office, Amtrak are all bankrupt.
And although President Obama had promised to bring the country together his actions have done more to divide the republic in half.
The Washington elite have lost touch with the people. As I watch Speaker Pelosi today (Sunday March 21) walk up the steps to the capital carrying a gavel with a big smirk on her face I was sadden and shook my head in disgust. She and those that followed behind her knew how divisive this Health Care plan has been to the country. She and the other congress members could have easily used the tunnel to reach the Capital but instead she saw an opportunity to \”rub the noses\” of the opponents of the bill in the dirt so to speak.
