On Giving a Pet as a Gift
You’ve probably known a child or two who was given a puppy for Christmas and, after a couple of weeks, began to neglect her. The parents were upset with the child, the dog was returned, and the holiday will always be remembered as, \”The Christmas We Got What’s-Her-Name and Returned Her Two Weeks Later\”. Shelters are full of these \”gifts\”. Around the end of January they are especially crowded.
