On Thursday, July 1, 2010 the cost of a round-trip SEPTA transfer at New Jersey PATCO stations is going up 20 cents to $2.60. The special round-trip PATCO/SEPTA transfer cost is increasing because of the fare hike implemented by SEPTA. The cost of a round-trip SEPTA transfer at New Jersey PATCO stations has been $2.40 since June of 2008. PATCO customers may use cash or their FREEDOM card to purchase a SEPTA transfer. The transfer is dispensed as two separate tickets. One is valid for 1 hour

Four Pa. Firefighters Injured in Industrial Blaze | Firehouse.com

MILTON, Pa. — Four firefighters and one fire police officer were taken by ambulance \"Fire1\" yesterday morning from the scene of an industrial building fire at 250 Mahoning St., a blaze that generated clouds of heavy black smoke that could be seen for miles. The nature of the firefighters\’ injuries or conditions were not available at the scene, but they were transported to area hospitals, emergency officials at the scene said. By 11:30 a.m., the smoke was beginning to clear and firefighters appeared to be gaining control over the blaze. Snorkel trucks were being used to spray water from high positions above the roof into the building. Meanwhile, the heavy black smoke appeared to be clearing a bit just before 11:30 a.m. At 11:45 a.m., emergency officials were calling for crews from several area fire departments to monitor air quality levels in the area of the fire. Initial air quality checks did not indicate any major problems, officials at the scene said.

Guest Commentary: Port Facility Operator Leo Holt Responds to Attack by \”SHARK\”

CNBNEWS.net received a press release from the animal rights group SHARK, (Showing Animals Respect and Kindness) of Geneva, Il. announcing a demonstration at the \"6a00d8341bf7d953ef011571114c5a970c-800wi\" Gloucester City’s firework display sponsored by Holt on Saturday. Because of the City’s budget problems Holt donated $15,000 to pay for the display. The SHARK press release says Leo Holt and the Philadelphia gun club he belongs to abuses animals (namely pigeons). Because Holt may be in attendance at the fireworks, SHARK representatives will be on hand to give out flyers and DVD videos. Upon receipt of the news release CNBNEWS.net contacted Holt for his response which is below. ~Bill Cleary

Mt. Ephraim: Pre-School Tuition $3,260, Payments Will Be Due Quarterly

Last month School Board members had announced that Mount Ephraim\’s half- day pre-school program would cost $3,260 for the 2010-11 school year.

\"Decorated The tuition will be due in two increments – one before the start of school in September and the second in January after Christmas break.

Several parents, including a mother of twins, expressed concern for the cost of the pre-school program as well as the fact that the bill is only divided into two allotments during last week’s Board of Education (BOE) meeting.

Parents suggested that the tuition payments be due monthly, which would ease their burden – especially for the payment due just after Christmas.

Board members said the monthly payments would involve additional administrative costs, so to compromise they voted and approved for the tuition to be paid quarterly.
