On Saturday, the Rams\’ balanced attack pummeled Lodi Immaculate, 11-1, to win the Non-Public B state final. It was Catholic\’s first state crown since 2003. \”It\’s been like that all year,\” said Gloucester Catholic coach Joe Matranga. \”We have some big hitters on the team the Shayla Giosias, Olivia Lawrences and Colleen O\’Donnells but throughout the whole year 1-9 helped us win some other games, like they did today. Hagerty helped herself with a fourth-inning home run in her final official at-bat as she was intentionally walked her last two times up. She crushed a Kelly Hage offering to left to give the Rams a 3-0 lead.

TOMS RIVER The script didn\’t go exactly as planned for the Gloucester Catholic High School baseball team in the Non-Public B state championship game at Toms River North Saturday afternoon. The resilient Rams still found a way to write themselves a happy ending. They rebounded after an early deficit, held onto the lead despite the best efforts of North Jersey champ Morristown-Beard and their own miscues, and found a way to claim a 7-5 victory and extend their record to a 14th state title since the statewide playoffs began in 1971.
