Hunting and Fishing: PA Archery Deer Season Just Around the Corner

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania’s fall archery deer seasons are set to open throughout the Commonwealth,and represent the beginning of big game hunting seasons in the state, said Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe.

Statewide, including WMUs 2B, 5C and 5D, archers can hunt antlered or antlerless deer from Oct. 2 to Nov. 13, and the late statewide archery deer season runs from Dec. 27 to Jan. 15.

Letter: Don\’t We Have A Right To Know?

Dear Bill,

Tonight the Gloucester City Mayor and Council had their monthly caucus meeting which \"6a00d8341bf7d953ef011571942740970b-120wi\" is at 7:00 p.m. at 313 Monmouth Street. A handful of residents came out for the meeting and were told that the meeting started at 5:00 p.m. and the public portion was ended. Acting City Clerk Kathy Jentsch said it was advertised in the Gloucester City News; however residents there did not recall seeing that in print.

In addition the governing body closed the meeting from Executive Session according to residents that were there. Under law they are required to come out of executive session to close the meeting. Why our municipal government is not following the law is besides me. Why is our government being so secret? What are they afraid about? As citizens of Gloucester City we all have a right to know what our elected officials are doing.

Please come out to Atco American Legion on Saturday at 1pm to welcome home Spc. William Betts from serving in Iraq. Will is in the US Army. He is with the F Company, 501st Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team.
 
Will is coming in late Friday night so we need to do another welcome home at the Atco American Legion. This is great, as we love to make noise in Atco.
 
Please come join us to welcome him home. The WWR will be escorting him and he will be in a limo. After the ceremony his family is inviting us to stay for a Bar B Q. Hope to see you there.

Hunting and Fishing: GAME COMMISSION OFFERS ADVICE ON AVOIDING BEAR CONFLICTS

 
HARRISBURG – With summer quickly slipping by, many Pennsylvanians may have forgotten about problems caused by black bears in the spring, when nuisance bear activity typically peaks. However, black bear activity also tends to increase during the fall, and Pennsylvania Game Commission officials remind homeowners that steps taken now can minimize problems with bears during the next few weeks and months.

Mark Ternent, Pennsylvania Game Commission black bear biologist, noted that, as fall progresses, bears will begin to increase their food intake to prepare for the upcoming denning season, which begins in mid- to late-November. For some bears, the search for food may lead them closer to people or homes.
