POLISH AUTUMN IS THE FAVORITE TIME

By Raymond J. Rolak

Autumn in Poland is a great time for tourism. The weather is pleasant and there are many harvest festivals. In the cities, summer hotel pressure is finished and the crowds have diminished. In the resort areas from Sopot to Gdansk (Baltic sea-shore) traffic has diminished. In the interior and folk country (rural) there is a saying. It is now the \”Golden Time\”.

\"6a00d8341bf7d953ef0133f49b398a970b-800wi\"

In America or Poland a Dozynki Festival always has color, music and dance.

There is a short period of time every autumn in Poland called ‘Golden Polish Autumn’. According to custom the phrase comes from Wincenty Pol’s poem, \”In the Autumn\”.

Golden Polish Autumn, (Złota Polska Jesień) – that’s the phrase commonly used to describe this season. Summer is gone, the winter is approaching but the weather is great now and it is time to celebrate and ejoy the colors. The trees are golden and rusty

In Krakow, the giant park Park Jordana, is a do not miss as the trees are changing at their peek. It should be on a ‘bucket list’.

The giant star Arius is bright and directly overhead and in Poland, astronomical autumn is beginning. The ‘Autumnal Equinox’ has commenced and the passage from Summer to Fall is beginning.

The farmers are starting the Dozynki. Harvest festivals that celebrate gratitude for nature’s bounty and winter preparations are all in full swing. The Polish harvest festivals are a custom of many centuries and little has changed. The traditions continue. The festivals celebrate the work of the farmer. Music, dancing, great food and colorful apparel, any Dozynki is worth attending. In America many social organizations and Polish churches have Dozynki Festivals.

This all means it is the first days of Autumn in the northern hemisphere. The sunlight and days are starting to get shorter.

So, the Golden Polish Autumn is a period of few days sometime between the end of September and the beginning of October, when fewer sunny days come after the initial drop of temperature. The Golden Autumn lasts in Poland usually less than two weeks. One of the best regions to see is Zakopane in southeast Poland. The Doznki Festivals in that area are truly Bardzo Dobrze (Very Good). From Krakow to Rzeszow the drive is full of color.

WAKE UP AMERICA!

Great grandfathers watched as their friends died in the Civil War. \"Wakeupamerica\"

My father watched as his friends died in WW II.

And I watched as my friends died in Vietnam .

None of them died for the Mexican Flag. Everyone died for the American flag.

Texas high school students raised a Mexican flag on a school flag pole, other students took it down. Guess who was expelled…the students who took it down.

California high school students were sent home on Cinco de Mayo, because they wore T-shirts with the American flag printed on them.

Enough is enough.

This message needs to be viewed by every American; and every American needs to stand up for America .

We\’ve bent over to appease the America-haters long enough. I\’m taking a stand.

I\’m standing up because the hundreds of thousands who died fighting in wars for this country, and for the American flag.

And shame on anyone who tries to make this message racist.

AMERICANS, stop giving away Your RIGHTS!

Let me make this clear! THIS IS MY COUNTRY!

This statement DOES NOT mean I\’m against immigration!

YOU ARE WELCOME HERE, IN MY COUNTRY, welcome to come legally:

1. Get a sponsor!

2. Learn the LANGUAGE, as immigrants have in the past !

3. Live by OUR rules!

4. Get a job!

5. Pay YOUR Taxes!

6. No Social Security until you have earned it and paid for it !

7. NOW find a place to lay your head!

Only AMERICANS seems to care when American Citizens are being offended !

WAKE UP America ! ! !

If you do not Pass this on, may your fingers cramp!

With retirements, layoffs looming and no overtime, Atlantic City firefighters say they\’re spread thin

 – pressofAtlanticCity.com

Nearby, 35 firefighters were finishing work on a devastating fire that burned dozens of people out of an Atlantic City rooming house. It was about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 29. That left only four firefighters to protect the rest of the city, he said, all of them on the west side of town in Chelsea Heights. Driving time to the far end of the city is more than 10 minutes without Saturday night traffic. The National Fire Protection Association standard calls for a response time of four minutes for the first arrival and eight minutes for a full crew. But the Memorial Avenue fire that burned 42 people out of their homes raises questions about department staffing, which has caused companies to close for most shifts this year as overtime was cut and 23 members retired. Another 30 members are set to be laid off Thursday. The fire also sparked a limit on mutual aid response from the Downbeach fire departments of Longport, Margate and Ventnor, which were angered that Longport and others were called in to man empty stations without off-duty city officers being recalled to their posts.

New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies – MLB.com Preview

\"JoeImage via Wikipedia

By Spencer Fordin / MLB.com

Forget about who\’s playing spoiler, about hoping the opposition does well against its natural rivals. The Phillies have leaped over that segment of the schedule and now find themselves in position to aid their own cause. Philadelphia, winners of 11 straight games, are close to clinching a playoff spot and can start pondering the best way to set up their rotation.

That point became clear earlier in the week, when the Phillies began mapping out their rotation for their final series against the Mets. Philadelphia reinserted Saturday starter Kyle Kendrick into the rotation between Joe Blanton (photo) and Cole Hamels, a procedural move that ensures an extra day of rest for the team\’s troika of experienced starters.

As things stand, Kendrick will start Saturday\’s middle game against the Mets, and he\’ll be followed by Hamels in the series finale. The Phillies will then go to Roy Halladay and Roy Oswalt in the first two games against Washington, and if Philadelphia feels the need, it will have Hamels and Halladay on track to start against Atlanta in the final days of the season.

The Phillies might not need to go back to the top of their rotation, though, judging by their bulging lead in the National League East.

Philadelphia went into Friday\’s opener with a six-game lead over the Braves and emerged within striking distance of clinching a playoff slot. In fact, the Phillies could clinch by the end of the weekend if Atlanta cooperates.

The Phillies moved out to seven games ahead as a result of Friday\’s events, continuing an incredible surge. Philadelphia trailed Atlanta in the division from the last day of May through the first week of September. The Phillies forged ahead of the Braves on Sept. 7, and they\’ve managed to forge their advantage by virtue of a 13-1 record over the last two weeks.
