The Camden County Board of Freeholders is reaching out to all of you for your support for the victims of last week’s two major fires in the City of Camden. Thankfully, no one lost their lives, thanks to the work of Camden City firefighters, police, EMS and all emergency responders as well as the 19 fire departments from all over the County that came to Camden’s aid. It was truly reflective of the generosity and heroism of all who live and work here.

New York, N.Y. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today announced a proposed plan to remediate soil at the Lightman Drum Co. Superfund site in Winslow Township, Camden County, New Jersey that is contaminated with volatile organic compounds. Drums of industrial waste were emptied into a pit at the rear of the Lightman Drum property before being sent to another location to be cleaned.

The Students participated in the Reading Incentive Program: The students from Mary Bray and Kershaw had an opportunity to participate in a reading incentive program in which read books during the months of March, April and May and record the books on a chart. In the Mary Bray School they received an inch of tape for each book read and they used the tape to stick Mr. Rafferty to the Gym Wall.

In the Kershaw Middle School Mr. Hunter was hit with whip cream pies. The Kershaw students received tickets for the amount of SRC points that they earned. The purpose was to have the students see the fun side to reading.
